PRESS & REVIEWS
Jersey Beat, the fanzine that I edit and put out, has been turning music fans into rock critics for over 20 years now, providing budding rock writers with a chance to be published and see their first bylines in print. Some of our alumni include the music critic at the Chicago Sun-Times, a Conservative born-again Christian columnist at Salon, Mickey from Ween, and Ben Weasel from Screeching Weasel. They've all grown up and gone on to become pundits, critics, rock stars, and professional punks but none of those stories tops Yosi Levin's.

Keith Green
has been covered numerous times by artists including Stonehill, Phil Keaggy, and Debby Boone. Green took to music at a young age, and his talents were noted by major newspapers by the time he was only eight years old. Following a performance of Arthur Laurent's The Time of the Cuckoo, the Los Angeles Times wrote that "roguish-looking, eight-year-old Keith Green gave a winning performance," one that "stole the show". Green went on to play "Kurt Von Trapp" in a major production of The Sound of Music. At the age of eleven, Green became the youngest person ever to sign with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) when he published, recorded and released the song "The Way I Used to Be". In his eary teens, with more than 50

American Beauty (album)
by the Grateful Dead, released in November of 1970 (see 1970 in music). The cover can also read American Reality. The mostly-acoustic album is beloved by fans as perhaps the highest-quality studio recording by the band (along with Workingman's Dead), who are known primarily for their live shows. "Truckin'"/"Ripple" was released as a single. American Beauty peaked at #30 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart (North America), while the single, "Truckin'" peaked at #64 on the Pop Singles chart. American Beauty was the second album released in 1970, after Workingman's Dead. Both albums were extremely innovative at the time for their fusion of bluegrass, rock and roll, folk music and, especially, country music. Like Workingman's Dead, the album did not include any guitar solos from Jerry Garcia. The band's influences can be

Bluegrass music
Bluegrass music Bluegrass music is a form of American roots music with its own roots in the Irish traditional music and Scottish traditional music of immigrants from the British Isles (particularly the Scots-Irish immigrants of Appalachia),as well as the music of African-American slaves. It was this tradition that A.P. Carter used and collected for the songs played and written by the Carter Family. Bluegrass songs are played with each melody instrument switching off playing the melody each time through, while the others revert to backup; this is in contrast to old-time music, in which all instruments play the melody together, when indeed they are playing together rather than solo. The bluegrass style was invented in the first half of the 20th century by mandolinist Bill Monroe
